My introduction to this band was probably the pages of Hit Parader. I got the s/t 1st album when it came out at the Music Box at the Glenwood Springs mall. The first album was alawys my favorite of theirs as it was the most evil and heaviest. The lyrics were dicey to say the least...They were trying to piss off parents and teachers and were one of the targets of the PMRC. My mom let me pop the tape in the tape deck of our car on the way home and I was immediately floored with its power as the opening track'I Wanna' Be Somebody punched me in the ears. its funny that I was given this band, my brother and i were just looking at his copy of this record last night. I only got to see them live once and it was long before Blackie was "born again". Blackie was drinking blood from a skull and Chris Holmes was jacked up.
