This means that some of the most popular content to grace the world no longer means anything as far as being connected through the Star Wars universe. This includes the widely renowned Knights of the Old Republic series by Bioware "While Lucasfilm always strived to keep the stories created for the expanded uni- verse consistent with our film and television content as well as internally consis tent, Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU. He set the films he created as the canon,"- Official Star Wars Blog This would be fine, but when you have an Extended Universe with the amount of traction and people behind it, you kind of need to be beholden to it on some level We're set to bring Star Wars back to the big screen, and continue the adventure through games, books, comics, and new formats that are just emerging. This fu ture of interconnected storytelling will allow fans to explore this galaxy in deeper ways than ever before." Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Lucasfilm will be making new games, books and comics which will all tie-in with the universe and be canon. How- ever, why would you discount years of extended universe content to just go on and make new content in the guise of exploring the universe and its inhabitants even further? One of the most popular role-playing games of all time, KotOR, is no longer a canon title. This means it's merely a sci-fi game that has similar attributes to the Star Wars movies. The announcement also brings in to question their other popular title Star Wars BattleFront II which now with no canon is really is just a Call of Duty-esque shooter with Stormtroopers and Jedi thrown in. These games are only examples of many ex-Star Wars titles such as the Force Unleashed series among others.

This is why Star Trek has the "big/small screen events = canon, everything else = non-canon" dictation – while it's nice to have an Expanded Universe, you need to set limits as to where everything goes.

I know, I'll probably get downvoted for it, but it needed to be said.
