About

The Ice War on Europa, also known as War Forever, is an RPG zine project started by Twitter / X user @lolt64 and various collaborators in January 2025, who began posting as though they were soldiers part of a never-ending war on Europa, a moon of Jupiter known for its icy geography. By April 2025, several internet users began participating in the fictional "Ice War on Europa" by posting and sharing fan art, vignettes and memes. On April 19th, 2025, an official NASA Twitter account made a post referencing the never-ending Ice War on Europa. Despite the popular participation in the trend, @lolt64 has clarified that the setting was not meant to be a Backrooms or Goncharov-esque collective fiction, but rather fan fiction of an existing narrative, although they encourage people to take inspiration from their work. The predominant theme explored in posts under the hashtag "#WarForever" is the bleak, ridiculous and hopeless nature of an endless war, with the creator emphasising the absurdity of war rather than finding meaning or virtue in it.

He also clarified the overall tone of the RPG, which is bleak, hopeless and ridiculous, comparing it to BJ Blazkowicz's grim thoughts in Wolfenstein. The war is meant to be absurd and pointless, and not "badass."
