The US Revolutionary War ended in 1776, while the British North America Act was signed in 1867 to make the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec) into a single dominion, although at the time it was still very much under the control of Britain. It only got full independence in 1931, and only finally severed legal ties with British Parliament in 1982.
So yeah. The USA is older than Canada.
