Context: Bluster Kong and Candy Kong makes an appearance in volume 23 of the Super Mario-kun manga in a special chapter based on the TV show. Set in December 31 1999, Candy declares to Donkey Kong and Bluster that she wants a picture of the first sunrise of 2000. The two, claiming that the sunrise can be spotted from a high place, goes to the snowy mountains. While they fight for a good spot to take the picture, King K. Rool and two of his Kritters attack the two, taking advantage of the fact that DK will not be able to regain strength from bananas in such a cold place. The two Kongs beat the Kremlings with frozen bananas, but in doing so, they miss the sunrise. DK comes up with an alternative solution and shaves both their heads, making them so shiny to "perfectly reproduce" the first sunrise of the millennium, disappointing Candy.
