As someone who has worked retail for a number of years, I can confirm that yes, this shit does happen.
I was almost fired recently for breathing at a woman in the wrong way.
Breathing.
I don’t even mean that as an exaggeration. I sighed a bit under my breath and she got so offended she screamed at my manager to have me fired.
