Alright, simple context lesson:

1) Korean snack foods companies have inserted more air (like nitrogen) than chips than they used to for decades now. With inflation over the years, the snack prices went up as well. Basically, less snack content (inversely more air content) but more expensive than 10 years ago. Meanwhile, due to FTA and whatnot, imported snacks had much more ratio of snack to packaging compare to Korean snacks now.

2) Obviously, those who actually lived through 90s or so in Korea were pissed, and started to post any b.s. they could find about ridiculousness of snack packaging in order to criticize snack company's bigotry(?). This also included comparison to foreign snacks to sarcastically comment how unreasonable the foreign snacks were for not packaging more air than snacks. However, aside from not-so successful boycott of Korean snacks, no notable criticism/happening IRL was made about this.

3) Then, this little experiment came along to prove that air within the bag was enough to outweigh the chips inside the bag to make it float, such that two adult men can cross the Han river (one of the major rivers in Korea) using only 160 potato chip bags. Hopefully, this little demonstration will be able to catch Korean snack company's eyes to be more mindful of their consumers compared to their foreign competitors.

tl;dr: Hypocrisy on amount of Korean snacks decreasing over the years was somewhat scientifically proven.
