This is a perfectly acceptable stance to take. If you don't know much about an issue and it doesn't affect you, you have no obligation to get involved. Just don't don't come down heavily on the side of an issue you don't understand.

I know it's contrary to everything the internet has taught you, but you're not obliged to offer, or even have an opinion on things you don't know anything about.

One of the biggest problems in GamerGate is people like Patton "two clicks" Oswalt coming in and offering a blinkered, uninformed, and basically parroted opinion that nobody asked for.

I've been trying to find out more about it, and reached the point of "This is too complicated and affects me in no way. I'm out!"
