The way I see it, Daisy's in the same boat as Waluigi. They could both try to represent the countless sports spin-offs.

Daisy and Waluigi are only well known because of "Mario Tennis" and the other Sport games. Yes, Daisy was the Damsel in Distress for Super Mario Land, but she wasn't a playable character until Mario Tennis, where Waluigi also debuted. If I recall correctly that was the first real game for both of them, even though they were side characters. The irritating thing is that instead of Daisy and Waluigi, which are (now) unique and interesting characters that started as clones years ago, we get clones of Mario. I mean, Dr. Mario and Green Mario? It's not as if they are popular or well known characters…
