Interesting how SPOILERS after the room's AI goes AWOL, it seems like the AI Connie is trying to confront how Steven likes Connie in THAT way, but it turns out the AI Connie was referring to the ending of the book they were trying to fix. Steven was hiding his feelings for the original ending of the book, not Connie. My ideal scenario of Steven and Connie being friends as kids until they mature enough to see each other as more (probably starting around their teenage years) continues to seem more likely.
