Pic related 试 ime mi n-women-qamin Because of my jobs I've gotten to know and become friends with many of the biggest names and even more of the not quite big names in the comic-book world. They are generally great people who are kind and accepting in the way that is forged only through a lifetime of mistreatment and bullying. It's what makes the current state of the industry so disturbing Thonk you to rry friends in comics who hove jained the hespes, men andwormen Thanks fr roting back, sheher it's yu or your frends What you need to understand is that comic-books fell to the hordes of SJWs over a decade ago. They came marching in with their social science PhD's and told the creators how 'transformative their art could be. Glowing academic papers were written about certain writers and artists elevating them above their peers. The rest were told how, they would be taken seriously, if only they could distance themselves from the misogyny and racism of their medium, and more importantly, their fandom. The creators, who were already left leaning, didn't find difficulty in moving just a bit more. The creeping politics of hate seeped in, and each time it was met with acclaim from a corrupt CB media The comic-book media who had rushed into lockstep with the academics were finally being validated. These pathetic creatures who werent talented enough to actually make comic books, were stuck scraping pennies off the floor so they could orbit the industry that so many dreanm of working in. The creators and academics touted and promoted the 'right' sites and granted exclusives to them. Blacklists started for the ones who questioned this new paradigm, but it was short lived. Any who initially resisted saw their inevitable doom, and fell in line. We were soon told on a daily basis that we were disgusting ignorant monsters for liking the things we liked, for not being more inclusive, for not supporting the right books So we folded Actually folding indicates that we put up some sort of fight. We never even tried to push back. We were used to the bullying, it was one more name to call us. We'd proven for decades that no matter how bad things got, we would still buy the book every month. No matter the quality of art & writing, we couldn't have a gap in our collection. Our love for the medium was stronger than our integrity Time passed and this became the status quo of today In the name of social justice they've become censors and bullies. F------ artists are publicly advocating for the censorship of art they don't like. It's endemic to the industry at this point I've sat at industry cocktail parties and listened to editors from the big publishers tick off names of people who are 'unemployable' because they don't toe the political line. Or they dared push back over mandated inclusiveness You will never hear about this from the creators, they'll give interviews where the first thing they'll say is how it was an artistic choice, not an editorial edict. How it made sense to the story they were trying to tell. It happened organically and provided a far more interesting perspective for a character that had grown stale I don't even blame them for it. Why wouldn't they? While CB's are dying, the OC produced has become multi-million dollar development deals for movies and television. A successful run on a big publisher IP can make a name that leads to a successful creator owned book, and that leads to fat Hollywood option money Which is al the industry cares about anymore This is my world now. I pretend in public and on social media to agree with everything they say and do. The daily disgust I have for myself and for my peers is the price I pay to live my dream, or at least that's what I repeat internally.
