It's the bandwagon effect. People adopt and discard movements for the next thing, not because they have changed their minds about it, but because it's the next big thing going on in the news.

some people support and disparage things, no because they believe it is true or untrue, but because society tells them to. same thing with being offended at the smallest things, like the word "Apartheid", to the point that they try to ban all discussion about it.

some people refuse to think for themselves, and they get "offended" at the slightest things. This is a cancer on society.
