Gustavo Fring's Death Scene is a viral scene from the AMC television series Breaking Bad in which series villain Gus Fring dies. The scene has received several fan recreations and parodies.

Origin

The scene comes from the Breaking Bad episode "Face Off," which first aired on AMC on October 9th, 2011.^[1] In the scene, Gus Fring goes to pay a final visit to Hector Salamanca, who is in his room at the retirement home "Casa Tranquila." Gus believes that Hector had revealed his true identity to the DEA, and was prepared to give Hector a lethal injection. However, before Gus's arrival, Walter White installed a pipe bomb into Hector's wheelchair that is activated by ringing his desk bell. Before Gus can give Hector the injection, Hector looks Gus in the eyes and rings his bell, which makes a clanking sound instead of its usual ding. Gus looks down and notices the bomb, but it's too late. He only has time to stand up before the bomb detonates. In the aftermath, a stunned Gus manages to walk outside of the room and adjusts his tie as the camera pans around to reveal that half of his face has been blown off by the bomb. Afterward, he stares blankly forward and collapses onto the floor. The scene (shown below) was posted to the official Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul YouTube channel on July 8th, 2019, where it has received over 20 million views in over four years.

The scene was also recreated in the Colombian telenovela Metástasis (shown below).

On January 31st, 2015, YouTube user kristo499 posted a recreation of the scene using LEGO characters. The video (shown below, left) received over 104,000 views in over eight years. On January 19th, 2020, YouTube user SomeGuys posted a live-action recreation of the scene using very limited resources. The video (shown below, right) received over 2.1 million views in over three years.

On December 9th, 2021, YouTube user Kamalek posted a recreation of the scene using Source Filmmaker and characters from Team Fortress 2. The video (shown below, left) received over 1 million views in over one year. On September 11th, 2022, YouTube user odditiesmaybe posted a fan animation that parodies the scene using The Backrooms. The video (shown below, right) received over 1.8 million views in nearly one year.
