So today I've decided to introduce you guys to the world of Celtic and British Mythology through the medium of Monster Girls. Because if I used actual depictions, they'd all end up in the Nightmare Fuel gallery.

The Selkie or Seal Folk, are a type of mermaid native to the Northern Isles that come in both a male and female variety.

Unlike the normal fish-based mermaids, Selkies are able to transform between a large seal form or their human forms by either donning or shedding their seal skin. If the skin is stolen, then there is no way for the Selkie to transform back into a seal and this causes them great distress.

Because of this, they don't suffer from the "Mermaid Problem" and can have children with humans, although they tend to stick to their own people.

Due to this, Selkies are objectively the best version of mermaids, as they have a higher chance of being redheads and they turn into seals; which are basically sea doggos.

Don't argue with me on that last point. Seals have puppies, bark and have the heads of Labradors. Their basically the dog version of mermaids already.
