"It's for kids tho!" is one of the laziest arguments out there today. Just because it's target audience is children doesn't make it immune from criticism.
"It's for the kids!" is just their backup argument when they realize that nostalgia isn't reeling in the audience that they had intended. It's the same thing with the Kim Possible movie-- the target audience was clearly supposed to be people who grew up on the show like me, but we hated the idea of a live action version with someone who doesn't at all look like Kim, and once they realized they goofed up instead of backing down or recasting they just quickly said "IT'S FOR THE KIDS THO!"
No, mate. It's not. Today's kids didn't watch Kim Possible. Today's kids didn't watch Aladdin. Some of the little girls and boys may know Jasmine, but they won't know where she comes from. You made it for the adults, but the nostalgia goggles aren't working and now you want to act like you weren't wrong.
