Let's talk about planes, helicopters and other vehicles, that soar in the sky.
Even fictional aircraft are acceptable.
Now let us begin!

If I may ask, what kind of aircraft is this? It looks like it's having a big grin.

Boeing X-32

American experimental jet fighter.
It was a competitor to x-35 (experimental version for F-35) for the Joint Strike Fighter contest.
It lost. And it is one of the uglier planes out there.

@YART

Real planes would do.

Also it's very helpful to name the planes you like because we know what it is.

Take a look at this thing.

This is Ho 229.
This is thing was build 45 years earlier than B-2. But unlike B-2 it was never used in combat.
This thing was a B-2 before B-2 even existed.
There is only one original airframe of this aircraft now.

@Terring

I'm going to quote you

" sexy as the Concorde? Seriously if I could, I would make sweet love bah puttin' mah dick in dem hot engines."

Fucking Soviets built all sorts of crazy shit. TB-3 for example; carried tanks across the landscape and allowed for light fighters/biplanes to take off from it.

Let's not forget they wanted "flying" tanks.

The USS Macon (ZRS-4) recovering its F9C-2s.

An F9C-2 docking and being stored in the Macon's hanger bay.

>tfw we'll never have airborne aircraft carriers again
Why even bother living?

Also how could we forget helicopters?

I love the Huey, and the "twin" variant is pretty sexy

The really beefy designs are really nice, like the Chinook

And how could we forget the Sea King, which has the honor of transporting the POTUS?

More experimental aircrafts.

Bell X-1, the first aircraft that broke the sound barrier.

Bell X-5, the first aircraft with variable geometry wings.

North American X-15, The first manned hypersonic aircraft. For those who are not familiar, the term "hypersonic" has generally been assumed to refer to speeds of Mach 5 and above.

SNECMA Coléoptère, famous for its annular wing.

Looks like China is getting into stealth lately.

J-20.
One cool looking jet, even if it resembles another plane.
But that is not all.

J-31.
Similarities between J-31 and F-22 are undeniable.

Russia has a stealth plane too.

Sukhoi "T-50" PAK-FA.
Neat.

Northrop YB-35.

Northrop YB-37, jet powered successor prototype to the YB-35.

Northrop Grumman B-2, first flown 43 years after the YB-35's first flight.

I don't know, I think it lasted longer than the Titanic.

It depends on how you look at it. The Titanic sank in the early hours of the morning on the fifth day of its voyage, whereas the Hindenburg crashed on the third day of its voyage. However, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage, whereas the Hindenburg had made a single round trip across the Atlantic before its destruction. Thus, while the Titanic survived longer on its final voyage, the Hindenburg had greater total travel time.

Also, on the actual thread topic:

The Spruce Goose, bitches. Largest wingspan of any aircraft ever made, capable of landing on water, and made mostly from wood.

No love for cargo and passenger planes? Well, let's change that.

Handley Page H.P.42

De Havilland Comet

Boeing 314 Clipper

Tupolev Tu-144, also known as "Concordski"

Airbus A380

Mil V-12, the largest helicopter ever made
