I just finished watching The Demon Inside and various members of my family were going over the best horror movies they've seen. Most of them say The Exorcism of Emily Rose is the scariest. What do you think?

I don't know about the scariest, but the thing is classic. One of my favorite movies ever.
The Thing is pretty awesome.
Tough to say, I might go with Alien.
Scariest or best? I've never been into modern horror, but I recommend Frankenstein(1931) and Dr. Jekyll&Mr. Hyde(1931). They're my favorite "horror" movies.
I'm…not exactly a horror movie type, but this one I both liked and was terrified by at the same time.
I get these chills and terrible nightmares everytime something reminds me of this movie.
From "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th".

I like 28 days and weeks later. I also like It.
Alien is pretty good, because it was less about the jump-at-you scare and more about a fear of the unknown, as you never got to see the xenomorph until the end.
Also, that dinner scene.

I meant whatever you consider best.

Scariest movie has to be paranormal activity.

There is no such thing as a "good horror movie".
Therefore, when you're talking about which horror movie is the best, you're really talking about which one is least bad.

DAMMIT, WHY CAN'T I PASTE GIFS AND IMAGES ONTO KYM COMMENTS AND FORUM.
The Thing has something for everyone.
If you want a movie with amazing visuals, this one is for you.
You want a horror movie with an amazing story and characters, and, a psychologically thrilling and disturbing one, this one is for you.
Of all the horror movie characters there are, this one has the most likable and memorable.
I don't watch horror.
I don't like being scared. It's not a good reaction. It's put into you so you can survive.
Also, a lot of horror doesn't sound good from my perspective. They don't have good story value, which is what I go see a movie for. They're just one big adrenaline rush to me.
I do not like horror movies. Like, at all. I hate almost all of them. And it might not really qualify, but the Shining is fantastically made.
Uh, not to sound like a jerk, but why did you post here? At least contribute to the conversation, please.
I'm not a big horror movie fan, but I would have to say Paranormal Activity, just because I haven't seen many horror movies.

I hate horror. Not because I disrespect the genre, but because I figuratively piss myself every time I see a suspenseful scene.
Alien. Creepy + cool, with good characters and story. I would put Aliens, but that's more of an action movie.
