Just about everyone has heard the song DotA by Basshunter, and if you haven't you will

the only problem is, no one knows what the hell it is, and if they figure out the lyrics its a gibberish because it uses chat only people who play DotA use.

so for those who may not know what it is it is a Aeon of Strife like map in the precursor to the scourge of the Earth known as World of Whore…er Warcraft. there are 2 teams with 10 players split evenly, and you get a "hero" unit and you fight your wa to the opposite side of the map to kill the enemies base (hmmmm All your base are belong to us?)

Could DotA be considered "Memetic" even if it hasnt had that much image related activity.

then again nothing can challenge Techno Viking, so that might also explain the lack of Techno memes

Okay, so DotA is short for Defense of the Ancients which is a map for Warcraft III. And Basshunter (an already popular musician) made a song about the map.
Pretty cool, but that alone doesn't strike me as memetic. It's a game reference in a pop song and the video went viral. It's a sweet promotion for the both of them, but if anything this could be something that happened at the peak of a meme. Is there an iceburg of activity involving people creating fanart or other creative works based upon DotA?

While there is plenty of artwork out there for DotA (for example the different loading screen wallpapers with each version of the map), the whole thing is confined to a dying community :( Too bad cause it wasn't a half bad game really.

actually HoN is coming out which is pretty much the defibrillator atm, and dota isnt dying but it is weakening.

though corruption grips the fastest growing league, that im in. but its not as bad as much of it, so there is some light for them
