Does anyone notice in General that we are often bombarded from spam trying to sell us. . .fucking voodoo.

No seriously.

They also seem to have taken up astrology.

You have to wonder what they talk about around the water cooler when they're on break.

So many Black Magic Hookers. I feel if any of us fell for it we would get our anus torn apart by a demon or some shit.

Somebody apparently is running a business in voodoo assisted relationship advice giving and they happen to have a working spambot. It's not a trend, it's just one persistent bot and it's been attacking this place for a while

Well, I might say that it's a trend. Bots have creators, I'm sure, and the creators probably set out bots based on a combination of what they think will sell and what they want to sell. That changes over time.

The things we've gotten from other bots in the past are not what we're getting now. And I figure that's the case for other sites as well.

The astrology part bothers me more than the fact that it comes from a spambot. It's strictly personal bias, though.

Five or six threads (BSOD needs to just be chained to a chair to monitor the site 24/7) popping up is nothing compared to the spam that occurred earlier this year advertising escort/phone sex services. And I'm told even that didn't hold a candle to the spam bursts that came before.

Fortunately, the times where there aren't any mods around are also the times where site activity is at a minimum. That means not many people see the threads before they're deleted when one of our non-Western mods gets online to check on things.




Really though, would anyone be adverse to chaining up BSOD? Anyone at all?
