"Author Rams (blank)" (also referred to as Author Rams X) is a meme founded recently by the Bungie community; specifically players of Halo: Reach. The meme is performed when a user posts a tag of disapproval to another player's file (specifically multiplayer map variants) stating that the "author rams", followed by the name of a random object or person (the term "author" is technically incorrect in this case, because player-created files are not works of writing).

This meme is shrouded in mysterious origins, however, the likelihood of this meme having been born in the game is mutually acknowledged. This meme, as of now, is exclusive to Halo: Reach, however, it has been mentioned multiple times on the official Bungie.net forums. This meme is still young and may continue to grow for a while to come. This will not remain so on Halo: Reach files, however, as Bungie has recently disabled the Author Rams, replacing all pre-existing, and new ram tags with "My Favorite File".

On April 22, 2011, the Bungie Weekly Update announced the "end" of the "Author Rams" meme. Instead of simply removing the tags, Bungie chose to change all of them to "My Favorite File." Also, community members who used tagged a file with any of the "Author Rams" variations had their privilege to tag and rate files temporarily removed; repeat offenders were more severely punished. Furthermore, this Weekly Update stated that Bungie will continue to work to remove "plenty of other nasty tags still floating around out there."
