About

Dragon's Dogma 2 Character Creator refers to a feature in Dragon's Dogma 2 that allows players to make a custom character. Similar to other role-playing game features, Dragon's Dogma detailed and extensive options for creating unique characters, allowing players the freedom to alter skin color, facial features and many other details, resulting in many players making highly accurate models based on characters like Breaking Bad's "Walter White," The Witcher's "Geralt" and even the Handsome Squidward meme. Clips and pictures of some players' custom characters spread on social media in mid-March 2024.

Origin

On March 7th, 2024, Capcom released a Dragon's Dogma 2 demo ahead of the RPG’s launch later on March 22nd, 2024. The demo, however, focuses on the character creation feature, enabling players to the full set of "creation tools for your Arisen – Dogma-talk for your hero – and their main Pawn."[1] The official Dragon's Dogma 2 YouTube[2] channel posted a video highlighting some of the game's features and the character creator demo, which the player can later transfer the Arisen's data to the main game. The video (shown below) amassed over 90,000 views and 3,500 likes in five days.

Spread

On the same day, some players started experimenting with the feature, creating the most horrific characters possible. For example, X[3] user @veryDaveTTV posted his version of the main character with long legs and a small head (shown below), which amassed over 10,000 likes and 1,100 retweets in five days.

Over the following day, players with access to the demo showed off some of their custom characters, taking inspiration from other memorable characters from TV shows, movies and anime. For instance, on March 8th, 2024, X[4] user @breebunn posted a character inspired by Dune Part Two's Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. The post (shown below, left) amassed roughly 621 likes and 16 retweets in four days. On March 10th, 2024, X[5] user did a version of the One Piece villain Crocodile (shown below, right), garnering over 2,500 likes and 211 retweets in a day.

The only bad thing about this so far are
- lower limit for height is 160cm, so no dwarves (even though dwarves ARE in the game, so it feels like something they'll add in later)
- muscle definition options are very lacking to the point it feels bugged, like there's a dedicated muscle definition option with like 30 different muscle textures but even when put to max they pretty much don't show up, especially on female characters. Again, another thing that likely will be fixed/improved later
