In the first episode of the 4th season of the Irish crime drama Love/Hate a cat was killed by a youth with a gun showing off to his friend. Controversy erupted and the story made frontpage news even though a mechanical cat was used and not a real cat. Some users of Twitter even set up entire accounts related to it and a YouTube clip of the cat's death got over 1,000 views in 2 days.
