The original image macro was first posted in August 2011 on We Heart It [1] and started gaining traction on tumblr in early fall of 2011. Parodies started appearing in October, gaining more popularity into November.

oh wow! look at me! look at how i disapprove of a meme without giving any real context as to why i don't think it's a meme even though it doesn't really matter if i think it's a meme or not based solely on whether or not i've seen it anywhere before on 4chan, which i browse constantly in order to be a meme masterrrrrrr. because tumblr and youtube and twitter and etc… cant make memez~~~~~~~ i'm just going to ignore the derivatives ive seen here on this page and the fact that memes could possibly act/spread/come about differently than what i am used 2.
