The reaction 4-panel has not created a significant amount of search interest to be reflected on Google Insights, nor has their been any notable increase in Kurt Cobain searches that could be attributed to the comic. Rather, the comic is a reflection of the larger public interest in Kurt Cobain over 15 years after his death in 1994.

The first known instance of this meme ever to be uploaded to Encyclopedia Dramatica occured on May 27th, 2008.
