Large Hadron Collider
The Large Hadron Collider is “the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, intended to collide opposing particle beams, protons at an energy of 7 TeV/particle or lead ions at 574 TeV/ion” (Wikipedia)
The LHC is also the source of a great deal of anxiety, as some physicists have stated this atom-smasher will create tiny blackholes that could destroy the Earth!! This hasn’t happened… yet.
