This meme originated with the following post made on February 7th 2010 on the popular gaming site Gamefaq's by the user Anastu, entitled So I get in a helicopter and backflip ….. The post then went on to read,

BUT I SURVIVE. I actually completed the flip, at the same time avoiding an RPG. I cannot express how awesome I feel right now.

After this post on Gamefaq's, it was spread across the entire gaming community and forum sites such as, 4chan.org, 1Up.com, Gamespot.com, Gametrailer's.com and many others sparking many derivatives.

Derivatives

Since the post of this forum, the phrase has been exploited in the following manner, "So I get in a {noun} and {verb} ….. BUT I SURVIVE. I actually completed the {verb}, at the same time {verb} an {noun}. I cannot express how awesome I feel right now." Often, image macros are also accompanied by the exploitable phrase in the style of demotivationals. The first derivative was a post reply from user Shmoiken which read,

"So i get in a T-80 and backflip …..

BUT I SURVIVE. I actually completed the flip, at the same time avoiding an RPG. I cannot express how awesome I feel right now."
