Super Smash Brothers - Final Apex 2015 Entry Numbers

No love for Brawl :(

It’s not really surprising. With Brawl being such a defensive-oriented game, it’s unfortunately lost steam over the last few years -- so much to the point of basically being dead now -- and on top of that, in many ways, Smash 4 is a superior Brawl, though it’s definitely not even close to being Brawl 2.0. I basically view it as what Brawl should have been all along from a mechanical standpoint (no random tripping, a much more appropriate speed for a Fighting game, no ability to act out of hitstun -- allows for proper comboing -- a roster that’s actually well-balanced, vastly superior ledge mechanics, the nerfing of campy projectile play, all characters being independent, etc. etc.).

I like Brawl, but I ultimately don’t see any real reason to go back to it at this point. The only times I boot it up nowadays are to play the mods, most notably Brawl Minus. That mod… let me tell you. It’s like if PlatinumGames developed a Smash Bros. title. It’s ridiculous.
