While it may be true that many of us are guilty of exaggerating things for social media posts, most of us still have common sense not to make ridiculous claims online. If you're going to make up some nonsensical lie, the least you can do is make it believable. Don't claim your 3-year-old is a philosopher with a greater grasp of the universe than any adult, or that your children's astonishingly mature behavior at the local grocery store resulted in everyone clapping and cheering for you.

Odds are, it didn't happen, and nothing you say can make sane people believe you actually did these things and that these would be the actual results of your make-believe scenarios. As many of us know, people online aren't just going to believe everything they see (hopefully), but there are a few of us out there who definitely didn't get this memo and will post whatever they please to make themselves look great. It's given us Reddit's /r/thatHappened, a gold mine of incredibly fake lies that no one believed. Here are some of the best of the worst to remind you not to believe everything you read on the internet.
