We're not really sure why they do it, but it seems to help them feel better about themselves when they think they know what they're talking about. The problem is that they sometimes find themselves talking to someone who knows the subject much better than they do. And when this happens, it can be pretty hilarious for the rest of us to watch, because we're not the ones who embarrassed ourselves in front of the entire online community.
