15 Celebrations for the 13th Birthday Of 'None Pizza With Left Beef'
With almost every fast-food outlet under the sun offering a takeout app nowadays, it’s easy to take for granted how we get food on-demand with a few screen taps and minimal human contact. However, there was a time when the whole thing was a lot more of a novelty. In 2007, blogger Steve Molaro came up with The Great Pizza Orientation Test, a way of figuring out just how much dedication Domino's Pizza would show to their brand new online order system, which promised to personalize your toppings right down to the side you wanted them on.
No-one realized the internet would be changed forever when an underpaid food service worker squinted at the order they’d just received and said to themselves, “I guess I’ll roll with it.” But with that, one of the internet’s most beloved foodstuffs was born: all hail None Pizza with Left Beef. It proves its iconic status in many ways — the rigorous testing of one outlet’s baby steps into providing takeout online, the casual artistry of the pizza itself, the asking of the question “Who chooses beef as one of their go-to pizza toppings?” So when the infamous order hit the big 1-3 on Monday, a lot of people saw a reason to celebrate (or just feel kind of old).
