Most people would agree the Star Wars sequel trilogy wasn't quite like the original (or even the prequels). We had incredibly high expectations for them, which they didn't live up to, and maybe that's why so many people are bitter about them. But could they ever be the same as the classics? Honestly, probably not.

The sequels still managed to lead to us discussing their many pitfalls, and many of us have controversial opinions on them; some love them, some think they're absolutely horrible, and some just think they're fun movies that shouldn't be taken too seriously. We'll never have an overall consensus on the quality of these movies, but with the eventual loss of most of the original cast and a number of questionable plot points, the merits of the sequels remain a topic of debate among fans everywhere.
