A collection of tweets in response to an AITA post where an employee asks if he is the one at fault for cc'ing his CEO when his co-workers stop answering his emails.

Don't Forget To CC The CEO When Your Co-Workers Ignore Your Emails

Oh, to be new in the working world again. After a 22-year-old employee of an unknown company stopped receiving answers to his emails, he did what any rational human would do by cc'ing the CEO of a company of 10,000 people. What's that, you say? That doesn't sound like something a rational person would do? Well, this guy somehow thought he'd found a great lifehack, and he went through with it anyway. Multiple times. Like, often enough that the CEO definitely got annoyed.

Despite hearing from his actual manager that he needs to stop emailing the head of his organization, the employee is not only contemplating including his CEO on his unanswered emails again, he actually posted on Reddit to gain perspective on his situation. After this story was later circulated on the Twitter / X account @AITA_reddit, many users jumped in to confirm that this young employee will probably be fired.

The post that started it all

r/Amithe ole u/familiar-jacket. 23h⚫ AITA For CC'ing the CEO on emails for my coworkers who don't respond? I work for a company of 10,000+ people within customer service. At my office, there are a lot of people who don't respond to my emails and those that do sometimes take days. This has been frustrating me recently. If I need a certain document/etc, I have to practically chase down the person to get it. Given that most of us are now working from home, this has made the problem worse. I decided to start including the Chairman/CEO of our company on all emails to coworkers who either never respond/or are very slow. To give some examples, IT is usually slow so when I had an issue with my laptop last week, I included the CEO on it. There was another case where a customer had a question that I didn't know the answer to, so I told the customer I'd get back to him and emailed the coworker (as well as CC'd in the CEO) my question. I've only been doing this for a week but the response rate has been fantastic. My supervisor called me up and told me to stop doing this, and I explained the problem to him. He nonetheless still told me to stop and I agreed to it. However, I am planning on resuming if my coworkers start ignoring me again. I haven't gotten a response from the CEO either so I don't think it's really a big deal? EDIT: To people who are asking, I am 22

Users were quick to point out that the young employee should probably thank his direct manager

selena @clytamnestra81 Follow Replying to @AITA_reddit Dude, go thank your manager for standing up for you and telling the CEO's assistant that you are just a stupid kid hailing from a non- proffesional background and deserving of a second chance. Because that's almost certainly what has happened behind the scenes.

Especially because his boss is probably the only reason he hasn't been fired

Lish | sorrows, sorrows, prayers @indocaribma. Follow X Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit OP is going to get fired. Isn't there a chain of command where you CAN cc a hire up supervisor without inundating the CEO? There are SOPs for a reason, but OP may be newer to the corporate world. Lol you wild, keep going tho

Both the title and story proved this kid was in trouble

I should be reading. @browniesO_O. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit By the title alone: yes. By reading the actual post: how are you not fired yet? X

Lists were made to demonstrate just how wrong the OP had messed up

BD @briskide. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit Let me count all the ways this 22 year old is torpedoing his first real job without apparently realizing it. X 1) Bothering not just senior management but the very highest manager 2) Overstepping his direct manager 3) Antagonizing co-workers and future bosses He's going places!

Although, a debate occurred over whether or not the CEO was as bothered

X Spinach @SpinachZucchini. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit Dude, the reason you haven't heard back from the CEO is because your supervisor has, and he told you to stop doing it.

Especially if he receives a thousand emails a day

David, like the saint @DavidAnvil. Follow X Replying to @SpinachZucchini and @AITA_reddit Nah. In a company that big the CEO doesn't even know those are internal. I bet s/he's got an auto rule to delete all cc emails. LOL.

Pretty much every single Twitter user confirmed that the OP was in fact in the wrong in this situation

Kimberly Anne, Sd Bch @QuirkAnneSnark. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit YTA, I am cackling at this. You don't bother the CEO of a huge or any, really - company with your petty problems. Way to make yourself stand out in a bad way. Loop in your direct boss or follow up with a nice, firm "Circling back here! Per my last email..." X

Bless your heart

Probably sooner

Ron B @Obeluss. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit YTA You will be fired by age 25. If your manager got message from higher up, probably sooner. X BTW, you don't just go from question to nuclear option. You should escalate to your managers (that is why they are there). Chain of command, follow it. GOH HE IS SO FIRED II GIF

Unless of course, he actually wants to get fired

sheologian @sheologian Follow X Replying to @sheologian and @AITA_reddit This is, without a doubt, one of the easiest ways to get fired. If that's your goal, you're doing great.

Many were happy to share their thoughts on the CEO as well

Molly Doll @Molly_Plath. Follow Replying to @AITA_online and @AITA_reddit YTA. The CEO is TA too just in general for being a CEO X

Perhaps the OP should adopt this type of mentality?

Alex Nelson @aenelson4. Follow X Replying to @SimonJadis and @AITA_reddit I love when people don't respond to my emails cause it gives me a valid excuse to not do more work until they do.
