What Is The 'Autism Announcement' Meme? The 'Trump And RFK Jr.' Fox News Graphic Memes Explained
The U.S. President recently held a press conference from the White House, claiming that taking Tylenol while pregnant can increase the chance of autism in kids, and it's got a lot of people angry.
To balance out the backlash, the announcement has also inspired a whole lot of memes that are taking over social media, including the viral "Autism Announcement" memes based on an unintentionally funny Fox News graphic.
So, what is the Autism Announcement meme, and why is it all over social media? Here's what you need to know.
What Is The 'Autism Announcement' Meme?
The Autism Announcement meme started on September 22nd, 2025, when U.S. President Donald Trump and RFK Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services, held a press conference from the White House. During the press conference, they claimed that taking Tylenol while pregnant increases the chances of having a child with autism.
They also claimed that you can use a drug called leucovorin to treat speech-related deficits in autistic children with cerebral folate deficiency.
While Trump and RFK Jr. made these claims with confidence, the announcement has caused backlash among health professionals (and many others). There have been no recent studies that suggest a connection between Tylenol and autism, with a 2024 study even providing evidence that there is no link between the two at all.
How Is 'Autism Announcement' Used In Memes?
During the Fox News coverage of the press conference, the company used a graphic showing RFK Jr. and Trump's heads next to large text reading, "Autism Announcement." This graphic and the phrase itself struck many as unintentionally funny.
The day of the announcement, people turned the graphic into a meme that looks to define and visualize "autism announcements."
Some viral examples include memes with captions like, "How it feels telling the group chat I don’t want to eat at the restaurant they planned because I don’t like the texture of the food they serve," and, "every time I text the groupchat."
Essentially, the joke is about reframing the controversial announcement as something else that relates to living with autism.
