Tumblr users are obsessed with a new "romantasy" (romance-fantasy) novel about a Dangerous Crow Boy whose job is to destroy plastic.
The book's absurd premise and the way it's being advertised by its author have inspired a massive wave of memes on the site, turning it into an instant classic Tumblr meme.
But what even is the Dangerous Crow Boy book? How did it become a meme, and how does he destroy plastic? Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'Dangerous Crow Boy' Meme?
At the end of August 2025, author Lana Pecherczyk released The Company of Vengeful Crows: Season of the Crow, the 10th in her series of Fae Guardians romantasy novels.
The book follows a man named River, who can shapeshift into a crow, who falls in love with an Australian girl named Blake. Blake wears plastic, which has been outlawed in River's post-apocalyptic fantasy world after it helped lead to the apocalypse.
River is meant to destroy all plastic by melting or otherwise obliterating it with his fae powers. Despite this, he falls for plastic-loving Blake.
Right before the book's release, the author posted a video advertising it on TikTok. The ad starts with the caption, "What happens when you stumble into a fae world wearing sparkling, forbidden 'plastic' clothes?"
River then appears and holds Blake from behind as the caption reads, "A dangerous crow boy whose job is to destroy plastic becomes obsessed with you." This was reposted to Tumblr days later and went viral.

How Is 'Dangerous Crow Boy' Used In Memes?
Ever since the screenshots of the TikTok video were posted on Tumblr, users have been making memes about the so-called "dangerous crow boy whose job is to destroy plastics."
Many of these are text posts that play with and expand upon the idea in funny ways, including many posts that simply want more details on who this crow boy is and why he's trying to destroy plastic.
The author has since embraced these memes and updated the book's FAQ page on her website to answer people's pressing questions.
Some popular memes about the book include a post imagining Halloween costumes for the Dangerous Crow Boy and "Plastic Girl," Blake, and a text post where a cat wonders why it's a problem when it eats plastic, but not when the crow boy eats plastic.
