About
Venus Tummy is a slang term for a pouch of abdominal fat that becomes particularly visible when some women wear tight or form-fitting clothing, including skirts and dresses. Memes and posts appreciating Venus tummies as an attractive physical quality in women started going viral on social media as early as April 2022 on X / Twitter, garnering viral spread over the following years. The specific term "Venus Tummy" was coined as early as September 2025, and memes using the term garnered increased virality throughout 2025 as the idea of the Venus Tummy became the subject of debate, stoked partially by the viral Pouch GF post and an I Believe In Supremacy meme that uses the term. Critics of the Venus Tummy claim it is a sign of an unhealthy person. The term is purportedly derived from the Roman goddess of beauty, Venus, or the Greek version, Aphrodite, who is sometimes depicted in marble statues as having a stomach that fits the definition of a Venus Tummy.
