According to @ape_apeee's other tweets, her son got Roger at an event, seen gift wrapped in a box with a bow on it.

In the Roger remembrance video in question, the kid is shown taking care of his pet and bringing him everywhere, like on car rides or wheeling him around on a scooter.

At the moment, it's unclear how Roger passed away. All that's shown in the video is the boy on his knees and a one-dollar bill on the ground next to Roger.

The video of the kid mourning Roger didn't immediately become a widespread meme, although initial reposts on Instagram did help it spread in April.
