Your Glamour Shot is a social media game that involves the participant looking up "[their name] + glamour shot" on Google and sharing the first found image. First gaining spread in March 2015, the format regained popularity in March 2020, particularly on Facebook.

Origin

While the exact origin of the trend is unknown, the game presumably^[13] originated on Facebook in early March 2015. On March 10th, 2015, Imgur^[1] user UpvoteALLtheimages made the earliest known post falling withing the trend, posting a glamour photograph of an unknown man and writing "Decided to Google search my name + Glamour Shots" (shown below, left). On the same day, Babygaga^[2] user ♡☆º×ß¡±©µ×º☆♡ made started a thread in which they offered other users to look up "[their name] + Glamor Shot" in Google (shown below, right).

Spread

Staring on March 11th, 2020, the format gained a notable spread on Imgur,^[3] spreading further to Twitter on March 12th, 2020. For example, a March 11th, 2020, post by Imgur^[3] user brokg501 received over 4,900 views in five years (shown below, left). A same-day thread started by Babycenter^[4] user danihavenga received over 200 replies, while a thread by Bodybuilding.com^[5] user Simpy received 69 replies. A Twitter^[6] thread started by user @RealTr3y on March 12th received over 550 replies (example post shown below, right).

On June 25th, 2015, BuzzFeed^[7] reported on the social media trend. In the following years, the format saw a number of small resurgences on various sites, including 9GAG^[8] and Facebook.^[9]

In late March 2020, the game regained popularity on Facebook,^[10][11] with multiple users making posts and challenging others. The game later spread to Twitter and Instagram; for example, a March 26th, 2020, tweet^[12] by musician Chris Young received over 40 retweets and 1,000 likes (shown below).
