Prime Energy and Hydration Drink is a widely successful beverage company owned by YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI. However, there's a Prime Drink Lawsuit unfolding right now, involving dangerous PFOS, PFAS and other "forever chemicals" reportedly present in the grape Hydration flavor.

News of the lawsuit went viral on TikTok this week when the platform's resident lawyer, Tommy the Lawyer (@tommythelawyer), unearthed the concerning class action lawsuit, filed by a California woman named Elizabeth Castillo. The details of this lawsuit are scary for anyone who's sipped a Prime which, unfortunately, means a lot of children, known for loving the drink and making songs about it.

For those who want to know the full story, let's explain the finer details of this lawsuit and what exactly PFOS, PFAS and "forever chemicals" are.

What Are PFOS, PFAS And 'Forever Chemicals?'

Per-and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, known by the abbreviation PFAS, are man-made synthetic chemicals created to resist heat, oil, stains, grease and water. For instance, imagine an amazing, water-resistant Arc'teryx raincoat. That water-resistant shell is made with PFAS.

PFOS are a subset of PFAS. And, PFAS and PFOS are nicknamed "forever chemicals" because they are near impossible to break down in nature. Molecularly, long strings of carbon and fluorine bonds make up PFAS which make the chemicals water-resistant but also terribly bad for the environment and human health, according to the EPA.

There are many regulations for how many PFAS can be in drinking water. The U.S. government routinely tests drinking water to make sure it's not loaded with the things. If one consumed PFAS-laced water for years, they run a higher risk for cancer and infertility, among other side effects and issues.

What's The Prime Drink Lawsuit?

Last year, in August, a California resident named Elizabeth Castillo filed a lawsuit against Prime, known in court documents as Castillo v. Prime Hydration, LLC.

Castillo, with legal help from the plaintiff's law firm Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, filed a 38-page complaint that accused Prime of false advertising, based on the fact, revealed by third-party testing, that Prime's grape Hydration flavor contained immense levels of "forever chemicals," contradicting the company's health-centric marketing.

In fact, Castillo's independent study found an immensely worrying amount of PFOS in grape Hydration drink. In one bottle, the consumer intakes three times the recommended amount of PFOS one should have in their entire life.

Why Are People Interested In The Prime Drink Lawsuit Now?

Although TikTokers and other social media influencers made posts about the Prime Drink Lawsuit last year, major interest and awareness of the case didn't surface until this month when TikToker @tommythelawyer posted a series of viral videos on the topic.

Tommy stated, in a video that received over 16 million views, that his legal firm had received a complaint from a family whose son was diagnosed with leukemia, purportedly linked to his habit of drinking Prime. Through his account, the TikToker exposed Prime by resurfacing the 2023 case filed by Castillo.
