What's The 'Scuba Girl' Video Spreading Across the Burnerverse? Memes About Ry DeSabato And The ASU #ScubaGirl Video Explained

There's a new viral video making waves in the so-called Burnerverse and it's one of the most bizarre (and graphic) ones yet. The clip shows a woman on a rooftop with two men in a very explicit situation, complete with a snorkel being put where snorkels were ever meant to go.

Now, some Twitter / X users are claiming the woman is an Arizona State student named Ry DeSabato, and the memes are flying. So what is the ASU Scuba Girl video, and how did it take over the Burnerverse? Let's break it down.
What Is The Origin of the ASU Scuba Girl Video?
The first known mention of the video popped up back in December 2024, when Reddit user /u/itsgibby123 asked the /r/ASU subreddit, "Scuba Girl: anyone down to slide over the video?" That post didn't get much attention at the time, but it did age terribly.

Fast forward to April 11th, 2025, when "Scuba Girl" blows up. X user @skatteboner wrote, "You must not be familiar with the scuba girl," in a thread debating which college might produce the next "viral whore." (Yes, that’s the actual phrase used. Welcome to the Burnerverse.)

Just hours later, users like @jimmy_balls123 and @voddysodas start posting clips from the video, and views skyrocket. We’re talking hundreds of thousands of plays in just a few days. The clip shows someone filming their phone screen, watching the now-infamous rooftop scene.

Who is Ry DeSabato, and Why is She Being Linked to the Scuba Girl Video?
The woman in the video isn't named, but that didn't stop the Burnerverse from trying to dox her, or at least find a patsy to pin it on. So on April 11th, multiple anonymous accounts started claiming the woman was Ry DeSabato, a student at Arizona State University.

One post from @fuhitrah7 featured DeSabato’s face photoshopped onto Mount Rushmore alongside other women who’ve been dragged through the Burnerverse mud, like Mary Kate Cornett and Nikki Capocci. Another account, @PostUpPoet, bragged about DMing DeSabato directly on Instagram. And just like that, Ry DeSabato became the latest college student caught in the crosshairs of a full-blown internet pile-on.

Later on April 11th, X user @ed_da_catholic posted a map showing the distance between Tempe Town and a Bikini Bean Barista location, writing, "Pretty wild to think that #goonicide and #scubagirl happened less than 10 minutes away from eachother #justthinking." The tweet referenced the Drive-Thru Goonicide meme from January 2025.

What is the SEC Burnerverse Anyway?
The "Burnerverse" is basically a corner of Twitter / X made up of anonymous accounts obsessed with college drama, frat life, and D1 sports beef. The name mashes up "burner account" (aka anonymous alt) and "universe," and the content ranges from unfiltered hot takes to straight-up lies and rumors that should never see the light of day, but often do.
NEW: Ole Miss freshman speaks out after a rumor went viral claiming she had slept with her boyfriend's father. This story is insane. 19-year-old Mary Kate Cornett is reportedly considering legal action after the rumor went viral, trending number 1 at one point on X.Cornett… pic.twitter.com/j7DCmPi9Vf

Case in point: the Mary Kate Cornett saga. She's an Ole Miss student who went viral after being accused (without proof) of hooking up with her boyfriend's dad. That rumor got picked up by Barstool, ESPN's Pat McAfee, and a bunch of internet busybodies with too much time on their hands. Cornett has since said she's considering legal action.
