What's With People Cracking Jokes About 'King Von Iran'? Memes About The Chicago Drill Rapper And @IRIran_Military's Tweets Explained

In mid-June 2025, as geopolitical tensions between Iran and Israel escalated into open conflict, a verified but unofficial Twitter / X account named @IRIran_Military (Daily Iran Military) began posting like its admin had just stepped out of O Block, at least according to many internet users.
Twitter users should know by now that anyone can buy a verification badge for $8 a pop, but the account still managed to fool thousands of people who promptly began drawing comparisons between the ominous energy of the so-called Daily Iran Military account and the late Chicago drill rapper King Von.

King Von has been at the center of several internet meme trends in recent years, all of which have to do with his comically violent reputation.
But why did the "Armed and Dangerous" rapper get linked to Iran of all places? Here's a recap of the "King Von Iran" meme.
Where Did Memes Likening Iran to King Von Originate?
King Von rose to prominence in Chicago's drill scene in the 2010s and was also notorious for sharing cryptic, threatening messages, both in his lyrics and online.
While the rapper was fatally shot in 2020, memes about his contemporaries shivering at the sound of his name and likening him to "death" began making the rounds in 2024.

The dramatic tweet was followed by more goading in subsequent days, with tweets like "Everyone will feel it," and "It’s time to 🏹 some 🐀s."

Despite having no official ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran, several internet users mistook the commentary account for a legitimate one and began comparing the @IRIran_Military's posts to King Von's menacing reputation online.
For instance, on June 13th, X user @crackcobain__ tweeted, "Iran been tweeting like 2014 King Von," gathering over 200,000 likes and setting off a slew of King Von Iran memes online.
