Hoop Angel is an anonymous meme creator who started posting content on TikTok back in March 2022. His earliest videos cover a variety of basketball topics, such as LeBron James' earnings over the years. He also started mixing in the occasional basketball-related meme throughout 2022.

As he continued to post content leading into 2023, the subjects of his memes grew darker. Notably, one of his regular topics of comedy became memes about treating homeless people poorly, which has now become one of his most frequently joked about topics.

Hoop Angel started to gain a notable uptick in followers throughout late 2023, boasting over 700,000 by November of that year. The darkly comedic memes, especially those about homeless people, set to silly basketball videos clicked with a lot of the app's users.
