Who Is Leanna Perry? Here's The 'Drunk' Southwest Passenger Filmed Attacking Her Seatmate in Viral Video

Something about being trapped in a pressurized cabin with a hundred strangers seems to make the worst of us crack. One minute it's a routine flight where your biggest concern is a cranky baby, the next it's the "TMFINR" lady bolting down the aisle, or the JetBlue Burger King doing a bigotry speedrun.
In recent years, plane freakouts have developed a meme folklore that's equal parts spectacle and psychological case study.
This week, a new entry was added to the canon: A woman in an Ed Hardy hat who yanked, spat and kicked at a fellow passenger, and eventually got carried off a Southwest flight in a gurney. Her name is reportedly Leanna Perry, and the internet wasted no time finding out everything it could about her.

Let's recap the latest viral public freakout video, who Leanna Perry is, and how the internet responded to the whole thing.
What Is The 'Woman Causes Scene On Plane' Video?
On June 17th, 2025, TikToker @leahkay1010 posted the now-infamous footage of a woman, later identified as Leanna Perry, body-shaming and physically assaulting a fellow passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight from LaGuardia to Kansas City.
In the video, Perry can be seen grabbing the passenger's hair while slurring insults like "fat a-- b---h," as flight attendants and passengers try to separate them. The sound was later removed, but not before it hit 2.8 million views and 130,000 likes in three days.
Redditor /u/Ace-Cuddler uploaded the saga to the subreddit /r/PublicFreakout on June 18th, where it picked up 12,000 upvotes in a couple of days.

Redditor /u/Sonialove8 reposted a second TikTok originally posted by @leahkay1010 to the subreddit /r/SouthwestAirlines, gathering over 1,000 upvotes in three days.
The video shows Leanna Perry lying on the aisle between the seats with her hands zip-tied behind her back, now attempting to kick the lady she had previously attacked.

TikToker @amandawetterer posted earlier footage of Perry arguing with the passenger seated behind her from a different angle, clocking over 4 million plays.
She later shared the dramatic conclusion: Perry being removed from the plane on a gurney, viewed more than 32 million times.

Redditor /u/Ace-Cuddler also gave a handy recap of the three videos to /r/PublicFreakout in case anyone is having trouble following along with the chaos:
In the first one, the lady with the red cap seems to be complaining that she paid $250 dollars for her seat and that she doesn't want to have to touch the seated lady's a-- ("Do you think this is worth $250 dollars? … I’m sorry. There's like – I’m like not touching this girl's a--"). Then, she pulls out her phone to take a video of the a-- ("Look, look. … F-ck it. Whatever. I’ll just take a video.")
You can also watch a follow-up video (from @leahkay1010 on TikTok) posted here on the PublicFreakout subreddit that shows the red cap girl complaining that she can't breathe. So, they lay her down in the aisle, where she quickly starts to kick her feet towards the people around her.
Finally, in the last video from @amandawetterer, a group of police officers take red cap lady, who is restrained on a gurney, away from the plane.
Who Is NYC Artist And 'Drunk' Southwest Passenger Leanna Perry?
The woman recorded spitting on strangers and screaming "911!" while zip-tied in the aisle has been identified as Leanna Perry, a 32-year-old Brooklyn-based artist. According to reports, she originally hails from Lee's Summit, Missouri, and has worked with brands like Maybelline, Adidas, Hot Topic, Shein, Betsey Johnson and Nicole Miller.
Her now-deleted LinkedIn listed her as a designer for Maybelline New York, where she claimed to shape the brand's look across e-commerce platforms.

Before the incident, Perry maintained a social media presence promoting her artwork, which included moody, anime-inspired illustrations like "Actions Speak Louder Than Posts" and "Embarrassed for You."
But after tabloids like the Daily Mail came calling, her online portfolio seemingly vanished.

Still, the videos of Perry going berserk quickly made their way to Twitter / X, where users added their own commentary.
On June 18th, 2025, X user @Laurieluvsmolly reposted the footage, writing, "Pretty sure she was at the Capitol on January 6th 😬," gathering over 24 million views and 120,000 likes in just a few days.

As the frenzy around the video built, internet sleuths unearthed a 2024 article from The City in which Perry openly expressed her support for U.S. President Donald Trump. She told the outlet she had voted for him in 2020 and planned to do so again in 2024, claiming that being a Republican in New York City was "isolating" and that people often assumed she was a liberal because she was "edgy."

Following the airplane incident, Perry was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault, and according to the Port Authority Police Department, she was "intoxicated" during the altercation.
She now joins the ranks of various internet micro-celebrities who've gone viral for similar airborne tantrums.
