Raw meat influencer Gatis Lagzdins, also known as Goatis / Sv3rige, explained.

There's been a recent uptick in men filming themselves chewing through slabs of uncooked liver in the name of "natural masculinity" or "ancestral diets," but few have taken the raw meat lifestyle as far as Gatis Lagzdins, better known as Sv3rige or, more recently, Goatis.

A former RuneScape prodigy turned conspiracy theorist YouTuber turned accused cult-like leader with a taste for veal tartare and fringe ideology, Gatis is arguably as unhinged as you'd expect from a man who claims water is toxic and vegetables are a psyop.

He's currently wanted in connection with a gruesome acid attack, but ask his followers about when he really crossed the line, and they'd probably say it's not domestic violence — it's that he might've eaten Burger King during a trip to Arizona.

Here's a brief internet history of the controversial Goatis, also known as Sv3rige or Gatis Lagzdiņš.

Who is Goatis or Sv3rige, and How Did He First Build a Following Online?

Before he was a raw meat messiah, Latvian YouTuber Gatis Lagzdins was known as Kids Ranqe, a RuneScape PKing (player killing) legend with a 1 defence build and maxed-out combat stats.

He first gained a following in 2006 by posting a series of PK videos that showed off his kills in the Wilderness, which was the lawless, loot-happy PVP zone in RuneScape. He quit around 2011 after he got hacked one too many times and decided that the game was satanic, which, arguably, is not even the weirdest thing he's believed.

By the early 2010s, he transitioned to YouTube, donning long black hair, strong opinions on keto and a complexion that screamed "vitamin deficiency." He began spouting a number of conspiracy theories, ranging from the trite to the offensive to the "downright dumb:"https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/flat-earth-theory.

Around 2013, he launched a forum called An Instrument For All, branding it a judgment-free zone for people who wanted to talk about anything they wanted without being called a pseudoscience peddler.

Why Did Gatis Start Eating Raw Meat?

It all started, naturally, with Gatis staring directly into the sun. After a forum user introduced him to the concept, Gatis reportedly spent hours a day "sungazing," and soon took things even further; he stopped eating altogether for 30 days, and attempted to survive on "solar energy" alone.

The misadventure ended with him hospitalized and facing multiple organ failures. Doctors tried to refeed him with basic carbohydrates. In response, Gatis grew enraged and later claimed he wanted to "eat their flesh."

It was a natural pivot, then, to raw meat. By 2016, he was promoting its "healing powers" across YouTube. Whether it was raw veal, beef or unidentifiable globs of rotting sinew, Gatis was consuming it on camera with the zeal of a man who believed cooked food was a globalist plot.

What Were Gatis's Most Controversial Raw Meat Stunts, And What Did That Uncover About His Past In Latvia?

Between 2017 and 2019, Gatis and his followers developed a habit of showing up to vegan and vegetarian festivals across Europe to "protest" by gnawing on raw animal carcasses in public.

In Amsterdam, he filmed himself chewing through slabs of raw flesh, and in Brighton, U.K., he upped the ante by eating an entire raw pig's head. A few weeks later, he was then arrested in London's Soho neighbourhood for eating an unskinned squirrel.

The press coverage surrounding these stunts unearthed a more disturbing incident from his past. When he was 16, Gatis allegedly stabbed four classmates at school in Latvia. Police reportedly found him calmly sitting in front of a computer with the two knives beside him. The victims were hospitalized with light injuries.

Though Gatis was anonymized in local media at the time, his former headmistress recognized him years later, after seeing footage of him eating that pig's head on the news.

Who Is Diane Or Luna, And Why Did She Accuse Gatis Of Orchestrating A Brutal Acid Attack On Her?

In May 2022, a Danish woman named Diane (known online as Luna) was brutally attacked outside her home in Burgh-Haamstede, Netherlands. She was assaulted with a metal pipe and had sulfuric acid thrown on her.

Diane once dated Gatis and had a child with him. The man convicted of carrying out the attack, Ilyas A., was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Netherlands court.

But Diane believes the attack wasn't random. She accuses Gatis and his girlfriend, Mary Marina Eichel (who goes by Primal Belle online), of orchestrating the ambush and paying Ilyas to do it.

Authorities haven't formally charged Gatis, but that hasn't stopped online sleuths and YouTubers from speculating he's currently hiding from Interpol in Southeast Asia.

What’s With All the Burger King Jokes About Gatis?

Despite being accused of conspiracy-peddling, stabbing and potentially orchestrating an acid attack, what really seems to shatter the illusion for some of Gatis's fans is the allegation that he ate Burger King.

In January 2019, a woman named Alley from Phoenix, Arizona, went on record to recount how she and her friends hosted Gatis during a U.S. visit.

According to Alley, Gatis was a massive freeloader who asked them to buy him food, host him for free, demonstrated no interest in eating raw meat and regularly requested trips to Burger King and McDonald's.

In a twist of irony, for all his talk of chemtrails and carnivory, it's the fast food that may have finally damaged his credibility.

This accusation has become a running joke on TikTok, with creators mocking the self-proclaimed raw meat purist for purportedly betraying his lifestyle for Whoppers, as seen in TikToks by users like @looxminned and @iblame_antinootrients.
