Fans of rap music and Disney Pixar movies were baited this week into getting hyped about a seemingly upcoming film called Wallace about the life of the famous New York rapper the Notorious B.I.G.

Since the end of last month, a movie poster for the film has been going viral, showing Wallace with the promotional tagline, "Something BIG is coming to theaters." This was hilarious to many, especially if the poster was canon. However, it seems that Wallace might just be a viral hoax. Let's explain.

Is Disney Pixar's Wallace Real?

The short answer is no, Wallace is not coming to theaters in May 2024. Although the rumor's spreading across Twitter, Facebook and Reddit, Wallace is just that: a rumor.

The poster was originally made about a week ago, on May 30th, uploaded to TikTok by TikToker @buydusty. The TikToker's real name is Dusty Monroe and he's an AI artist who's currently making a living on AI-generating Pixar movie posters. His website is filled with them, however, Wallace has definitely been his most viral.

Who Spread The Wallace Rumor?

The Wallace hoax was solidified by users on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere who pretended that the movie was real in various posts over the past week.

Since the rise of AI-generated images in general, fake news and misinformation has run rampant. For instance, take the AI-generated images of Trump getting arrested. A lot of people thought they were real at first.

As time goes on and AI video systems become stronger, maybe the internet will eventually be able to generate entire Pixar movies instead of just the posters.
