Kamala Harris Drops Out Of Presidential Race, Twitter Has One Joke
Kamala Harris, the California senator once thought to be one of the strongest contenders for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination, announced today that she is dropping out of the race.
To my supporters, it is with deep regret--but also with deep gratitude--that I am suspending my campaign today. But I want to be clear with you: I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the People. All the people.https://t.co/92Hk7DHHbR

This came after weeks of falling poll numbers and agitated campaign staffers grumbling about an unorganized campaign unable to adapt to changes in the race. Harris' surprising fall from the race comes two months before the Iowa caucuses, the first actual results of the ongoing marathon Democratic Primary.
While supporters are naturally disappointed, a huge swath of Twitter users who were not fans of Harris have been drinking delicious schadenfreude. Jokes about the fall have been swift, and many have been puns about Harris' history as a prosecutor. Basically, her leaving the race is an example of a "cop out."
So Kamala really dropped out? Seems like a cop out to me.

While many Twitter users rushed to get in the easy pun, other jokesters remembered some of the greatest hits of the Harris campaign.

But Kamala Harris had all those executive orders ready to go… maybe America just wasn't ready for a totalitarian, police-state government.

Still, while many were joking about Harris' departure, others remembered that there were still several candidates in the race who have been able to stay in by virtue of having a lot of money.
Seeing Kamala Harris as an Indian and Black presidential candidate meant a lot to a lot of people. Sucks to see her drop out while billionaires continue their vanity runs.

There’s something really wrong with a system where Kamala Harris can’t make it to Iowa and billionaires with no base and no message are just gliding through.

Two more months to go until Iowa. Strap in.
