Weekend Meme Roundup: 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl,' Brunch Squirt, Steam Deck

Welcome to the weekend roundup, where the trending memes of the past weekend are rounded up and examined more closely. This past weekend was all gaming-focused, with a splash of IRL content thrown in.

On the gaming front, there was the announcement and pre-order sales of the Steam Deck, which is a new portable console brought to us by the creators of Steam, Valve, the company that can't count to three. At the same time, Nickelodeon, the studio with the foot logo and the questionable executive producer, announced their own version of a collaborative fighting game with All-Star Brawl. Finally, our appetites were satiated by the Brunch and a Show that took place down in Miami late last week.

Nick All-Star Brawl

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an upcoming platform-fighting video game developed by Ludosity Interactive and Fair Play Labs. The game has a similar style to the Super Smash Bros. fighting series and features a roster of characters from various Nicktoons, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Rugrats and many others. The game is scheduled for a fall 2021 release, and the full roster hasn't been announced yet. When it does, and when DLC characters are talked about, expect the memes to flow even bigger than before.

Squirt Brunch

Brunch Squirt Video refers to a viral video of a woman appearing to "enjoy herself" until completion at The Wharf in Florida. After the video began spreading on Twitter, people shared their horrified reactions as well as memes about the video. This event led to an increase in awareness of the medical event that happened, as well as sparking a debate as to what kind of legal charges should be filed against her.

Steam Deck

Steam Deck is an upcoming portable PC platform designed as a handheld console and developed by Valve. The console boasts the ability to play Steam games, as well as having Windows installed on it so it can be used to play any computer game. The first wave of consoles is expected around December 2021, with more being staggered out over the following months. Obvious comparisons to the Nintendo Switch have been made, with many people fighting online over which is the superior console.
