About
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an upcoming platform-fighting video game developed by Ludosity Interactive and Fair Play Labs. The game has a similar style to the Super Smash Bros. fighting series and features a roster of characters from various Nicktoons, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Rugrats and others. The game is scheduled for a fall 2021 release.
History
On July 13th, 2021, IGN[1] announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a platform-fighting game featuring characters from various Nickelodeon cartoon series for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. On that day, IGN uploaded a trailer for the game to its YouTube[2] channel, where it received over 1.1 million views in roughly 24 hours (shown below). On the same day, Twitter[3] user @Nibellion tweeted about the announcement, with the tweet gaining over 6,900 retweets and 42,300 likes in 24 hours.
In the trailer, multiple characters from the fighter roaster were revealed, including Michelangelo and Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Lincoln Loud and Lucy Loud (The Loud House), Powdered Toast Man (The Ren & Stimpy Show), SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob SquarePants), Oblina (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters), Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys), Helga (Hey, Arnold!), Reptar (Rugrats), Zim (Invader Zim) and Danny Phantom (Danny Phantom).
The game is developed by Ludocity Interactive and Fair Play Labs and published by Game Mill Entertainment.
On July 13th, 2021, developers confirmed that the game will be using rollback netcode.[4]

Immediately following the announcement, the game became the subject of viral discussions and jokes, particularly in the platform-fighting community (examples shown below).[5][6]
Speculated hitbox models and alternative skins for Nickelodeon characters saw use in memes about the game (examples shown below). For example, a meme about Fanboy & Chum Chum hitboxes by Twitter[7] user @LephemStar91 received over 3,000 retweets and 24,800 likes in one day (shown below, left).
