See The Winner Of October 2023's Meme Of The Month!
And the meme of October 2023 goes to…
Making companies look like they are doing unhinged, offensive things is never getting old, and Bing Image Creator just gave people a new tool to do that as people got busy cooking offensive but realistic-looking AI-generated parodies of Pixar movie posters. With a library of upcoming hits like One Jar, 'Caust and Sonichu being advertised on X and beyond daily, X's community notes contributors had its hands full the entire October. First place for Offensive AI is only fair, and 23 percent of you voted for it.
Loli God Requiem
Just behind the leader with 19 percent of total votes in the October 2023 poll is an *double checks notes* anime music video! We didn't have one of these on our poll for quite a while, and watching VTuber Shigure Ui's energetic and cheeky "Loli God Requiem" climb the ranks to get the second place was a thrill. The video was originally posted back in September but didn't quite reach its full potential as a meme format until after it was reposted again and again on every social network there is. Spawning memes, fan animations and even a dance trend, this is a big W for VTuber bros.
The Amazing Digital Circus
The fandom to be a part of this October, The Amazing Digital Circus is everything a terminally online counter-culture Gen Z heart desires. From a quirky neurotic jester girl protagonist Pomni to Tumblr sexyman Jax to a plot revolving around being trapped in a digital reality, the pilot episode of this black comedy got over 50 million views in less than three weeks. Third place with 14 percent of the votes for Pomni & Co.
Alligator Kick / Gumbo Slice
We can't describe it, but somehow the Alligator Kick image feels different from other AI formats we had before. Maybe its the absurdity of seeing a shirtless fat guy kicking an alligator in the face in the middle of a swamp. Maybe it's the other images in the series in which Gumbo Slice (it's the name the guy got) is sharing pizza with the gator before things go South. Maybe it's the entire wholesome story of betrayal and forgiveness between a man and a gator which this meme eventually evolved into. Whatever it may be, we stan Gumbo, and so do 12 percent of you who voted this meme into the fourth place this month.
Huh? Cat
No decent month can go without having at least one cat meme, and this month the honor belonged to Huh? Cat. A perfect combination of the sound of utter bafflement and the cat's stupefied facial expressions spawned an excellent meme for all those lost and confused this month. But wait, there's more! Another format that adds a rambling goat into the mix allows for even more variety. Fifth place with seven percent of total votes — not bad for a cat, huh?

Our list would be incomplete without naming the memes and formats that didn't have it in them to reach for the stars and get placed higher in our community ranking. In places six and below we have the TikTok anthem Sticking Out Your Gyatt for the Rizzler (6%), the Mojang-shaming End the Mob Vote campaign (5%), the case-cracking Detectives Solving the Kira Case grid (5%), The Coffin of Andy and Leyley bringing siblings closer than ever (3%), the forever young You Don't Understand I'm Only 29 (2%), the eardrum-rupturing Why Did Jake Do That? (2%), the Gen Z cryptid Erosion Bird (2%), Madcap, the Goncharov of Team Fortress 2 (2%), and finally the You Wake Up as X memental experiment (1%).
Thank you all for voting and see you next month!
