What Is The 'Hotspot Bro' Meme?

The original "Hotspot Bro" video was uploaded by TikToker @dytzz88 on March 8th, 2025. The video features an image of a sad skeleton with a phone for a head on his knees, holding a phone with a wi-fi signal on its screen.

As the image is displayed, an Indonesian text-to-speech voice goes on a rant warning people against giving a specific "anomaly" your Wi-Fi hotspot, claiming that the anomaly will use the hotspot to download large files.

The video gained over 10 million views in just two weeks as it spread outside of Indonesian TikTok. The audio, which begins with the voice yelling, "No, hotspot bro," then started to catch on as a meme in much the same way as the Italian brainrot memes.

Since it was uploaded, the original sound for the "hotspot bro" video has been used over 2,200 times on TikTok. The majority of these videos follow the same format as the original. Each video displays an "anomaly" that really wants to use your hotspot on-screen as the audio plays.
