The scene became the subject of memes in late May 2024, with the Bad Apes' apathetic "oh no!" line being added to funny situations representing the moment of realization when you know things are going down badly. The "oh no" monkey meme comes from the 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes film, in a scene titled "Bad Ape and Maurice" (shown below) where the character Bad Apea denies Maurice's request to scratch his back, saying the line "Oh no! Nono no no no!" The clip was posted on YouTube on July 12th, 2017.

Although the "oh no" monkey meme really took off on TikTok in late May 2024, a green screen version of the scene was posted to the internet on April 24th, 2023, by Its3adwy on the Creator Set website.
